The Delaware Teachers Institute launched it's eighth cycle in
April 2018 and 43 teachers successfully completed this year's program. Based on
the topics requested by district teachers in the Fall of 2018, the DTI Teacher
Steering Committee chose five faculty proposals and the following seminars were offered:
Disaster Science, led by Dr. Tricia Wachtendorf
Culture, A Total Way of Thinking, led by Dr. Carla Guerron-Montero
Computational Thinking, led by Dr. Jinfa Cai
Universe: It's in the Stars, led by Drs. Veronique Petit and John Gizis
The Fantastic Ekphrastic Scholastic, led by Dr. David Teague
The Fellows worked with their seminar leaders to research topics
relevant to the standards they will cover in their classroom. They then wrote curriculum units that will be published and available to
teachers in Delaware and beyond. This year's seminars also included some
field experiences and guest speakers! Our fellows were seen at the Mt.
Cuba Observatory, Winterthur and DEMA (Delaware Emergency Management)!
